“Jesus Shuttlesworth” to the rescue! Celtics take Game 1 vs New York

By: Brandon Gilson

The Boston Celtics beat the New York Knicks last night to go up 1-0 on the series. Ray Allen, once again proved why he is the greatest shooter of all time and came up clutch with a three pointer to put the Celtics ahead by two points. Allen finished with a team high 24 points, while Rondo nearly had a triple double with his ten points, nine rebounds, and nine assists.

The Celtics looked a little “sluggish” on defense, allowing NY to score 51 points by the half. Amar’e Stoudemire was unstoppable. He was incredible, not even Garnett could stop him. He finished with 28 points, 11 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 blocks and 2 assists.  Carmelo Anthony got in foul trouble early, which sent him to the bench early in the first quarter. He finished with 15 points, going 5-18 from t he field.

Chauncey Billups, a former Celtic, went for 10 10 points and 4 assists, but left the game with a bruised knee and is now questionable for Game 2 tomorrow night.

Pierce had 18 points with 4 assists, Rondo nearly had a triple dobule with 10 points, 9 assists, and 9 rebounds. Can we please mention how well JO played last night? C’mon man! 12 points, 4 blocked shots, and 5 rebounds?! Forget Shaq, start this guy!!! If he can continue to play as well as he did last night, the Celtics dont need to worry about getting Shaq back until the next round!

Ray Allen, our savior, went for 24 points, with 6 rebounds.

The Celtics will face the Knicks tomorrow night for game 2 of the series, at TD Garden. Tip-off is set for 7:00pm.

Below you can find my playoff predictions…agree/disagree?

  1. The Celtics D stopped Amare when it mattered most — in the final 3 minutes of the game. Melo’s decision to fire up a desparation 3 rather than try to penetrate and try to tie the game, or draw a foul, was putrid.
