Shaun Ellis Leaves our Rivals In NY And Becomes A Patriot.

By Ryan Whitfield

The Patriots continue their off season moves by now acquiring 34 year old Shaun Ellis who left the Jets recently. Ellis had 36 tackles and 4 1/2 sacks last season. This is by no means a block buster move, and I’m personally still holding out hope for Osi to come over via trade. With that said, I like this move a lot. They can spot Ellis and Brace with Wilfork and Haynesworth anchoring the line most of the time. Aside from that Cunningham was a DE in College and can be moved around some too. Then you mix in Wright and you have a versatile, strong, and finally tough front group. For the first time in several years we have a line that will can fight in the trenches. In Bill we trust, and you have got to love that this sticks a thorn in Rex Ryans side who said after he has come here he doesn’t wish Ellis well. With a young back end and a veteran tough front end and depth, this defense will be much improved this season.
