Celtics Take Game One VS. Philly On the Back Of Kevin Garnett and A Triple Double From ROndo

By Ryan Whitfield

Like most of this post season for the Celtics thus far, this one wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win. The team started slow and had to erase an early 13 point deficit followed by a ten point deficit later on in the fourth quarter. Down the stretch the Celtics out willed and out smarted the 76ers, and this is a main reason I believe the Celtics should walk through this series. After a great foul with 3 seconds to go Philly hit both free throws to make it a one point Celtics lead at 92-91. Pierce inbounded the ball to a streaking Rondo in the back court who avoided contact to bleed out the clock, just smart basketball. This game was a steal for the Celtics and should be the start of the momentum in a series they should win in 5.

Some of the concerns for the C’s however begin with the nagging injuries for Pierce (Knee) who shot 3-11 from the field last night, Allen (Ankle) who shot 4-10 and Bradely who’s shooting has been bad in the post season so far. Pietrus continues to struggle shooting 2-15 from behind the arc in 7 post-season games so far. However, KG saved the team last night with 29 points and 11 boards and Rondo’s 13-17-12 stat line. Garnett played the entire fourth quarter last night and so far has averaged 7 more minutes per game than he did in the regular season. Wether the rumors that this is his last season are true are not, it seems Garnett recognizes this could be his last title run, and he is spilling his bucket, heart and guts right now. Game two is tomorrow night at The Garden.
